Intensive burglar in Fulda: 26 acts and almost 500,000 euros in loot!
A 53-year-old bricklayer is currently facing serious allegations before the regional court in Fulda. He has been under trial since Monday for particularly serious theft, drug possession and attacking a police officer. The trial started on August 11, 2025 and lasted several weeks, with over 60 witnesses and more than a dozen days of proceedings until December. He is considered an intensive burglar and is said to have broken into a total of 26 private houses between March and November 2022, stealing an estimated value of almost 480,000 euros [hessenschau.de].
The stolen goods include everything that makes a burglar's heart beat faster: cash, wristwatches, jewelry such as wedding rings and cufflinks, coin collections and weapons. A break-in in Künzell-Jägerzell was particularly noticeable, in which the defendant stole around 370,000 euros in cash and valuable coins. In another case, he stole a shotgun and a revolver from a residential building in Dietershausen, like this Fulda newspaper reports.
Police investigation and arrest
The investigation led to his arrest in November 2022 when he encountered the police after a burglary in Fulda-Aschenberg. The defendant resisted and used pepper spray against the officers when they spoke to him. When he was arrested, the loot and a screwdriver, which he had hidden in several layers of his clothing, were seized. The police also discovered balaclavas and gloves in his vehicle, which indicate that he was well prepared, as further details from the Fuldaer Zeitung show.
What is particularly explosive is that the accused is not only charged with the burglaries, but also with the possession of around 400 grams of cocaine. This was intended for resale. The defense sees the evidence as difficult because the main witness has already been deported. She has therefore put forward a plea bargain: a prison sentence of four years and nine months, less the two years and four months that the defendant has already served. The next trial date will be Tuesday, August 19th at 9:30 a.m. The public prosecutor's office still has to consult on this offer.
Prospects and further developments
After serving his prison sentence, the defendant could be deported to his home country. This development is of particular interest to the relevant authorities as the man has a long criminal record and is considered a repeat offender. Another trial regarding a robbery at a precious metals store is also pending, which is expected to continue to concern the public. The situation shows that the police and judiciary in Fulda are intensively confronted with the phenomenon of burglaries and the associated crimes.
