The facility, which is located on Molzbacher Strasse, acts as a social pedagogical day group and advice center for children, adolescents and families. Furniture manager Christof Schneider, Caritas board member Dr. Markus Juch and Pastor Dr. Michael Müller and the architect Markus Swoboda were present to celebrate this special event. The presence of members of the Ackermann family, which was reminded of the generous donation of the late junior high school teacher Marga Ackermann, was particularly gratifying. This passed to the Catholic parish of Saint Maria Magdalena Hünfeld Land, who made the house available to the Caritas Association of the Diocese Fulda.

The renovation of the building, which is evident in its original charm, cost around 100,000 euros. They tried to preserve as many structural elements as possible in order to remain loyal to the old flair of the house. The initiative to use the object as a social institution comes from Pastor Dr. Michael Müller, who launched the request shortly after the death of Marga Ackermann.

The "Haus Ackermann" has space for up to nine children aged 6 to 14 years. Not only homework support is on the program here, but also learning social skills and educational all -round care. The concept of the social pedagogical day groups, which was developed by the experts at the Diakonie umbrella, is consistently implemented. The children find a safe space here after school to develop and to experience support in challenges in the family and school. According to the roof foundation, this is particularly important for children and adolescents who often live in stressful family situations or show difficulties in social behavior.

In addition, an open advice center is set up, which can also be called outside of the childcare times. Relatives and interested support and advice can search here. In the long term, this initiative is intended to help families find solutions to existing problems and to avoid future crises.
