The Knaus Camping Park in Hünfeld, a green oasis not far from the motorway, has been part of the Praforst recreation area for almost 70 years. The cooperation between the city of Hünfeld and the camping park recently celebrated a remarkable anniversary: the lease agreement was signed 20 years ago and still exists today. To mark this event, a colorful anniversary celebration was held, which attracted numerous visitors. The park's authorized representative, Oliver Krämer, took the opportunity to describe the interesting history of the campsite. This not only serves as a resort, but is also a popular stopover for Scandinavians on their way south.
At the celebration, Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok emphasized the importance of tourism for Hünfeld, where over 80,000 overnight stays are recorded every year. Camping tourism accounts for a significant share of this. “We not only want to preserve the natural character of the area, but also develop it further,” explained Krämer. To underline this claim, six comfortable and winter-proof mobile homes were recently set up, offering guests additional comfort.
New offers and developments
This year, the Knaus Camping Park has come up with something special: In addition to the mobile homes, they are now also offering camping barrels that promise a unique overnight experience. The holiday village complex in the forest is also to be converted and expanded to appeal primarily to families. “We have a good grasp of the needs of our guests,” says Mayor Tschesnok, “and thus show that we are forward-thinking.”
The physical well-being of the guests is well taken care of on site: in the camping park there is a snack bar and a grocery store that allows self-catering. A bread roll service also ensures that guests are well looked after. If you like grilling, you will find suitable cooking options and a charcoal grill here. The guests rated the culinary offerings in the camping park with 3.7 out of 5, which speaks for the quality of the food.
