Graduation ceremony: Wigbertschule Hünfeld welcomes new teachers!
July 5, 2025 was a very special day at the Wigbertschule Hünfeld because several teachers successfully completed their preparatory service. The graduation took place with the second state examination, which represents an important hurdle for prospective teachers. In her speech, school principal Sandra Möllers expressed her gratitude for the professional and personal enrichment that the graduates have brought to the school. The figureheads for this year's exam are Mauricio Dony (History/Sport), Luca Hohmann (German/Latin) and Miriam Schöppe (Ethics/Sport). While Hohmann will take up a position at the Wigbertschule after the summer holidays, his colleague Schöppe will teach at the Friedrichsgymnasium Kassel. Dony will now pass on his knowledge to the Schlitzerland comprehensive school.
But that wasn't all: at the beginning of the year, five more teachers completed their preparatory service at the Wigbertschule. These include Giusi Carciola (German/English), Simon Grigull (German/Geography), Daniel Kann (German/History), Jana Vasikonis (Mathematics/Music) and Svenja Weber (German/Ethics). The school is pleased that Grigull, Kann and Vasikonis will return as employees next term.
A look at teacher training in Germany
Teacher training has received a lot of attention in recent years. With the adoption of the “Standards for Teacher Training: Educational Sciences” in 2004, the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs took an important step to ensure the quality of teacher training. These standards describe the competencies that must be acquired in training for teaching positions. The implementation of the standards in teacher training began in the 2005/2006 training year and has since been regularly reviewed and adjusted to take current challenges such as digital teaching into account.
Education and upbringing issues are becoming increasingly important. In recent years, for example, skills for prevention and intervention against group-related misanthropy have been integrated. These developments show that teacher training does not stand still and is constantly evolving. The entire process is a team effort between specialist scientists and teacher organizations and has the clear goal of promoting a school of diversity and equipping teachers for the demands of modern society.
