Anniversary of the Ulfen boys: Celebrate 50 years of music for Ulfen!
A very special event is just around the corner: The Blaskapelle Ulfener boys celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025. On June 14, 2025, more precisely at 7 p.m., a concert will take place in the marquee in Ulfen, which is set up as part of the 1250th existence of the place. The anticipation for this festival is great, not least because the brass band can look back on an impressive story that started in 1975.
At that time, eight passionate musicians founded the Ulfen boys, who formed on the occasion of the fun fair. Norbert Michael, one of the founding members, is the first chairman to be active in the chapel to this day. Over the years, the brass band has developed into an impressive formation with around 50 musicians. In addition to Norbert Michael, Elmar Hahn as well as Roland and Günter Bodenstein are still active founding members. A recipe for success by the Ulfen boys is their comprehensive youth work. Young talents can play in the orchestra at an early stage, which promotes interest in music sustainably. The age structure of the members ranges from 14 to 68 years, which shows that music is lived across generations in Ulfen.
The repertoire of the brass band is diverse and goes far beyond the classic sounds. It is constantly being expanded by the wishes of the musicians. The first New Year's concert was already a turning point in the history of the chapel, where they appeared in front of up to 450 visitors until fire protection regulations limited the maximum number of visitors. In order to increase the musical quality, there are also rehearsal weekends with professional musicians who contribute to the further development of the group.

The upcoming anniversary concert is part of a big festival weekend. On Friday, June 13, 2025, the celebration begins with a varied program that will be announced in the added flyer. For those who want to experience the festival, there is a standing pageant on Sunday, June 15, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The home courtyard takes part with various actions, where, among other things, delicious dishes from the wood oven and cool drinks from the tap are offered. For interested parties, Hessian cave researchers, a schnapps distiller and a blacksmith present their impressive skills.
The brass band and the organizations involved cordially invite the public to celebrate this special occasion together.
