Anniversary of the Ulfen boys: Celebrate 50 years of music for Ulfen!

A very special event is just around the corner: the Ulfener Jungs brass band will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. On June 14, 2025, more precisely at 7 p.m., a concert will take place in the festival tent in Ulfen as part of the 1250th anniversary of the place. There is great anticipation for this festival, not least because the brass band can look back on an impressive history that began in 1975.

At that time, eight passionate musicians founded the Ulfener Jungs, which formed on the occasion of the fair. Norbert Michael, one of the founding members, is still active in the chapel as the first chairman. Over the years, the brass band has developed into an impressive formation with around 50 musicians. In addition to Norbert Michael, Elmar Hahn as well as Roland and Günter Bodenstein are still active founding members. Klaus Reinhardt supports the club with its 173 members, all of whom together have a significant influence on the music culture of the place.

Diverse repertoire and good youth work

A recipe for success for the Ulfen boys is their comprehensive youth work. Young talents can play in the orchestra at an early age, which sustainably promotes interest in music. Children's concerts and instrument carousels take place regularly, which inspire young people. The age structure of the members ranges from 14 to 68 years, which shows that music in Ulfen is experienced across generations.

The brass band's repertoire is diverse and goes far beyond the classical sounds. It is constantly being expanded based on the musicians' wishes. The first New Year's concert marked a turning point in the band's history, where they performed in front of up to 450 visitors until fire regulations limited the maximum number of visitors. In order to increase the musical quality, there are also rehearsal weekends with professional musicians who contribute to the further development of the group.

Anniversary celebrations

The upcoming anniversary concert is part of a big festival weekend. The celebration begins on Friday, June 13, 2025 with a varied program that will be announced in the attached flyer. For everyone who wants to experience the festival, there will be a standing parade on Sunday, June 15, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Heimathof takes part in a variety of activities, including delicious food from the wood-fired oven and cool drinks on tap. For those interested, Hessian cave explorers, a schnapps distiller and a blacksmith present their impressive skills.

The brass band and participating organizations warmly invite the public to celebrate this special occasion together. At a time when the brass music scene is going through a change, like in...
