Creative sewing engagement: District Administrator visits Herleshausener Näh-AG

District Administrator Nicole Rathgeber did not miss the opportunity to attend the sewing AG of the Sütinggauschule in Herleshausen. During her visit, she wanted to personally convince herself of the creative and interdisciplinary project, which is initiated and supervised by the Herleshausen country women's association. Together with Giesela Fischer and Magdalena Böckmann, two committed members of the country women's association, she enthusiastically observed how the children created their small masterpieces with a needle and thread.

For weeks, the 18 children of the 2. to 6th grade meet every Monday to sew, crochet and shape. Equipped with 15 sewing machines, colorful fabrics and all kinds of accessories, not only creative works are created, but also a lot of joy. Ms. Rathgeber grabbed a sewing machine and had the fifth grader Josephine guided. Together they sewed a small fabric bag, which was obviously fun and illustrated the children's commitment. The creative work and the joint exchange are clearly in the foreground at this AG. Meinegion365 reports that the volunteer country women support the children with a lot of passion.

volunteering in the community

But the commitment in Herleshausen goes far beyond the sewing AG. Another group of volunteers, consisting of Manfred Müller, Michael Müller, Manuela Hornig and Uwe Hornig, was recently awarded the Social Award Werra-Meißner 2021. This award is not only an appreciation of your current achievements, but also of long -term engagement in the community. They are best known for their lovingly designed Easter path, which provided a lot of joy during corona apandemia. With around 200 figures, including happy rabbits and moles, the latter gave the families a welcome change and consolidated a tradition that is to continue in the future.

In addition, the group campaigned for various projects in Herleshausen, such as the faithful recovery of the sign house at the former street border crossing. The design of a border corner in front of the municipal administration and the renovation of wooden editions around the fountain on the Herleshäuser Anger are also among her performance. Your ideas are not only practical, but also contribute to the quality of life of the residents and visitors. The municipality of Herleshausen appreciated its achievements, and each of the award winners received prize money of 250 euros. In a total of 3000 euros, the social award was provided. Since the award ceremony could not take place publicly due to the pandemic, the award winners received a certificate and a letter of congratulation. Werra Rundschau shows that the community in Herleshausen continues and supports each other.

cultural promotion and commitment

Such engagement not only refers to local projects, but is also reflected at the broader level, as the German Engagement Award shows. Funding associations in Germany invest a lot of time and work to promote the cultural landscape, be it in museums, music schools or libraries. The prize is awarded annually and is intended to attract voluntary commitment to culture to public awareness. Similar to Herleshausen, there are people all over Germany who actively work for their communities. German Engagement Award would like to honor these efforts and show everyone how important and enriching the volunteering is.

Overall, it is inspiring to see how people work together in Herleshausen to enrich their community and support each other. Whether in the sewing project or through a wide range of projects, the commitment is a real treasure for the region.
