November 9, 2025 will remain a fond memory in Eschwege. Despite an unexpected break in the weather, the city experienced a very successful Sunday shopping event, which took place as part of the 30th Doll and Bear Festival. Connoisseurs of Eschweg events know: a shopping Sunday like this not only brings in sales, but also enlivens the city center and attracts families with colorful activities.
Yvonne Rost from the district craftsmen's association observed a pleasing number of visitors; the well-attended throwing stall for children was particularly well received by the families. “There were a lot of foreign visitors there,” said Rost. The sky over Eschwege left something to be desired, as the weather conditions resulted in a noticeable decline in the number of visitors after 4 p.m. Nevertheless, Rost draws a positive conclusion about the event and Eschwege's presentation. “The emotional moments like the puppet theater were still a highlight.”
Activities for everyone
Another highlight of Sunday was the presentation of the Castello puppet theater, which had to be moved to the “Traube” hall due to the weather. Anne Wangerow from Eschwege City Marketing notes that the mood in the city was consistently good despite the changeable weather. “There was always something going on, but without it being too crowded,” she reports. The sudden change in weather may have encouraged some visitors to visit the stores and enjoy the shopping experience in a protected environment.
The combination of festivities and shopping made the day a real experience for all generations. From colorful market stalls to creative hands-on activities, there was something for every taste. Families could not only stroll around, but also actively participate in the festival and at the same time enjoy the advantages of Eschweg's shops.
