Danger to life from Ikea garlic press: recall for all federal states!

In an alarming announcement, Swedish furniture giant Ikea has once again called for the return of a household product that can potentially cause life-threatening injuries. The popular black garlic press from the “IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL” series is affected. According to [WLZ Online](https://www.wlz-online.de/verbraucher/deutschlandweiter-rueckruf-bei-ikea-kuechen-produkt-kann-lebensbedrohliche- reisen-verursachen-zr-93781578.html), small metal parts can come loose during use, which not only causes injuries but can also lead to a choking hazard. Particularly tricky: This press was sold in all German federal states and could have already been used in numerous kitchens.

The recall affects specific products with item number 201.521.58 and date stamps between 2411 and 2522 (YJWW). The frame around the Ikea logo on the top handle of the press serves as an important identifying feature. Ikea points out that the affected garlic presses may no longer be used and asks customers to return them to the furniture stores for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not necessary for this. If you have any questions, you can contact the hotline at +49 800 2255453.

Recall also expanded in Austria

The recall has now been expanded to Austria, as VKI reports. Here this happened on the orders of the Austrian food safety authority. The garlic press with the date stamp 2444 (JJWW) failed a local test, leading to a quick response and another recall. The recommendation for customers remains the same: Please stop using the garlic press and contact Ikea to get your money back.

Responsible communication is important

Such recalls show how important transparent information about product safety is. Consumers rely on being warned in good time. According to Product Warning, affected customers should not only check their purchases, but also pay attention to whether they might pass on or sell the product. In such a case, they should also inform others about the safety concerns.

The German Red Cross (DRK) also provides valuable information on how to react if a foreign body is swallowed. Ikea itself emphasizes in its statement that the safety of its products has top priority and regrets the inconvenience caused by this recall.

We can only advise: check your kitchen utensils and act before it's too late. Safety within your own four walls should be the top priority for each of us.
