Burglars strike in Korbach: Over 12 company vehicles broken into!

On Wednesday night the alarm bells rang loud in Korbach. Unknown perpetrators took advantage of the darkness to break into more than a dozen company vehicles and stage a real burglary spectacle. The police assume an organized approach in terms of the number of vehicles affected and the targeted selection of crime scenes. The damage amounts to a mid-five-figure amount, as HNA reports.

The perpetrators were very active and broke into several locations in Korbach. The windows of several cars and vans were smashed on the premises of an energy supplier on Medebacher Landstrasse. Here the thieves stole tool cases and machines from the Makita and Milwaukee brands. The burglars also left their mark on a carpentry shop on Briloner Landstrasse: the rear doors of three vehicles were forced open and various drills, cordless screwdrivers, jigsaws and hand-held circular saws were stolen.

Systematic burglary

But that wasn't all: another energy company on Marienburger Strasse was also affected. Here the perpetrators broke into two company vehicles and stole power tools, electrical cables and even a laptop. A vehicle from the same company was also broken into in Ziegelgrund. The gang members partially cleared the loading areas completely and the police suspect that a suitable transport vehicle was used to transport the stolen goods, which indicates well-thought-out planning, as News.de added.

The frequency of such incidents has been particularly striking recently. General crime statistics show an increase in theft crimes. According to Statista, the number of thefts recorded by the police rose to around 1.78 million in 2022. The police in Korbach are therefore urgently looking for witnesses who may have seen suspicious people or vehicles. Investigators are accepting information on 05631/9710.

The events in Korbach shed a worrying light on the security situation in the region. The affected companies and their employees feel increasingly insecure due to the criminal activities. It remains to be seen what measures the police will take to prevent such incidents and bring the perpetrators to book.
