Job center Waldeck-Frankenberg: New location for a digital future!

The Waldeck-Frankenberg job center in Korbach is facing an exciting new beginning, as the big move to the new building at Medebacher Landstrasse 30 is planned for June 13, 2025. The 62 employees of the job center are to move in completely here. The old building on Louis-Peter-Straße will remain closed until the grand opening day for customers and visitors on June 16th. This closure is necessary to ensure that the move runs smoothly and at the same time to optimize the processing of citizens' concerns.

The investment sum for the new building is in the upper single-digit million range, which shows how important the modernization of the service is in times of advancing digitalization. Because the old building, which has been around for over 70 years, is no longer up to date. The challenges of the digital future required extensive adaptation that was simply not possible in the old building. The new location not only promotes digital application processes and paperless communication, but also barrier-free access and current occupational safety standards that could not be implemented at the old location.

A look into the future

The move to the new building gives the job center the opportunity to work completely digitally: analog archives will be abolished and applications can be conveniently submitted online in the future. This greatly improves communication and editing. Thanks to new digital services, customers can log on to the platform jobcenter.digital Simply and easily contact your contact person and apply for various services.

The decision not to pursue the renovation of the old building came with a change in strategy. The then district administrator had previously proposed integrating the job center into a new administration building at Südring 3 in 2019, but this was not implemented. Instead, the district administration sold a neighboring property, which paved the way for the new building. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 26, 2024 and the contract was advertised in autumn 2021.

Citizen service rethought

The latest developments in the area of social security are of great importance: With the introduction of citizen's benefit, which replaced unemployment benefit II on January 1, 2023, a lot has changed. Citizens' benefit covers many areas of life, including food, clothing and heating costs, and is designed to support the needs of applicants. All information is also available in multilingual form on the job center website.

The job center not only offers personal advice on citizens' benefits as well as training and job searches, but also takes on a modern role in job placement by creating digital services. The evaluation of citizens' money shows that job centers in particular rely on highly specialized funding in order to meet the individual needs of their clients. Topics such as waiting periods for housing and assets are also very popular in consultations, although the administrative burden is seen as the biggest hurdle for many employees.

The combination of social responsibility and technological advances will be further promoted in order to help not only citizens but also the employees of the job center to achieve a better workflow. With this in mind, everyone involved is looking forward to the new chapter of cooperation in Korbach.
