Wine festival in Treysa: enjoyment and music at the 29th wine village!
What a celebration! The wine village at the Church of the Dead in Treysa celebrated its 29th edition from July 10th to 13th, 2025 and has established itself as an integral part of Hesse's event calendar. The premiere of the wine village took place 30 years ago at the Hessentag, and since then it has become a highlight in Schwalmstadt's annual calendar. Hundreds of visitors flocked to this special event on Saturday evening to enjoy wine, tarte flambée and the musical sounds of “Maus Acoustics” and “Christian Bergmann and the NordHessen Drei”.
The event offers a unique atmosphere in the middle of the ruins of the Church of the Dead. Winemakers from the Rheingau presented their best wines, secco and sparkling wine, while lovers of culinary delicacies were also catered for. Tarte flambée, cheese variations and grilled classics were well received by the festival guests. Franziska Gonther from WTS city marketing was enthusiastic about the positive visitor numbers and the continued high level of interest in the festival.
A feast for all senses
Non-alcoholic refreshments were also available, although non-alcoholic wine is still a long time coming as home production is too expensive. The trend in wines is clear: sweet wines and those with low acidity are very popular. Visitors appreciate the familiar, peaceful atmosphere; As the longest-serving winemaker Werner Gerhard from the Leon Gerhard winery in Hattenheim reports, many regular guests come year after year.
The musical program was colorfully mixed, and the opening evening with the Rheingau Wine Queen and Mayor Tobias Kreuter also marked a festive start. Although the wine village's first event required a ticket price of 5 euros for the afterwork party, entry was free on Sunday, which began with a celebratory service. In addition to the morning pint, a multicultural encounter festival was planned for Sunday, which entertained visitors with live music from Acoustic Six.
A successful start to the year
The wine village at the Totenkirche remains a place of sociability and joy. With a program that offers something for every taste, people are magically drawn to it. “The ambience here is simply unbeatable,” said many guests who were able to chat and eat excellently. And there is also great anticipation for next year: the 30th edition of the festival will take place in 2026, for which further highlights and surprises are planned.
In summary, the wine village remains a festival with style and ambience that not only captivates wine lovers, but also everyone who is looking for good conversations and social gatherings. The wine village inspires with what it has to offer - wine, food and music, in one of the most beautiful settings that Schwalmstadt has to offer.
