Schwalmstadt could get a FlixBus stop in Treysa!

The city of Schwalmstadt could soon have its own stop for FlixBus. Currently, travelers have to go to nearby neighboring cities such as Alsfeld, Marburg, Gießen or Kassel in order to get on the popular long-distance buses. The proposal to set up a stop in Treysa comes from the Free Voters faction, who are now campaigning for this initiative in the city parliament. Thorsten Wechsel, a representative of the Free Voters, presented the idea and received broad approval among the city council. According to a report by HNA The stop is intended to significantly increase Schwalmstadt's attractiveness as a residential, educational and business location.

The proposal is not only intended to improve the connection to the long-distance bus network, but infrastructural measures could also be considered. The city plans to contact FlixBus to clarify the establishment of a stop near the train station. This could not only expand travel options for citizens, but also optimize connections with rail transport. We are also considering checking parking and stopping options as well as traffic safety in the area. The discussions with Hessen Mobil and other partners are intended to help develop suitable line connections for long-distance transport. In this regard also reported SEK News that the Free Voters have submitted a corresponding application to the city council, which was already discussed on September 25, 2025.

A step in the right direction

The planned FlixBus stop could not only make Schwalmstadt more attractive as a place to live, but also significantly improve citizens' mobility. This proposal comes at the right time, especially in times when local and long-distance public transport is more important than ever. With an extensive offering from FlixBus, which includes over 400,000 connections and more than 3,000 destinations in over 40 countries, Schwalmstadt residents will be able to travel more cheaply and comfortably in the future. Loud FlixBus Traveling will not only be easier, but also more environmentally friendly, as bus travel causes fewer CO2 emissions compared to other means of transport.

The Free Voters also see themselves as a driving force for the city's progress on this issue. An additional stop would not only give Schwalmstadt residents more travel options, but would also increase the attractiveness of the location. In view of the recent completion of the A 49, which has improved the connection to the national road network, the conditions are once again favorable for putting Schwalmstadt on the long-distance bus transport map.

Now it remains to be seen how the city administration and the responsible partners will react to the proposals and when the first discussions with FlixBus can begin. In any case, the citizens in and around Schwalmstadt are hoping for a positive development that could enrich their travel options.
