Kita Wiegelsweg: Children's rights firmly anchored in everyday life!

The Kita Wiegelsweg in Schwalmstadt-Treysa has conquered a special place on the nationwide map of children's rights. Last year, the facility received the coveted certificate as part of the model project "Implement and sustainably implement children's rights". It was a project that was carried out over a whole year in cooperation with the Kinderschutzbund Orts- und Kreisverband Gießen, as NH24 . The daycare center was one of a total of 31 institutions in all of Hesse, which were selected for this valuable Initiative.

The project is supported by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration and aims to integrate children's rights into pedagogical work sustainably. Experts from the Child Protection Association trained the educators and were advisable to plan. The ten most important children's rights were developed in a age -appropriate manner, and the children were able to actively participate by selecting a right to children and presenting them in the group.

joint learning and celebrating

A very special aspect was the creative examination of the children's rights. The children not only addressed their ideas in the form of discussions and games, but also organized an exhibition within the daycare with self -designed shoe boxes and wooden boards. Even the last summer festival of the daycare center was all about children's rights and was visited with great enthusiasm by the families. A parents' evening that served to raise awareness of the rights of the children received a lot of positive feedback and lively participation.

The Kita Wiegelsweg is not alone. As part of the project, there was also a tandem partnership with the daycare center in Wolfhagen, which included mutual visits to the two teams. In this way, an intensive exchange and cooperative learning made it possible.

a step into the future

The ceremonial handover was recently held in Gießen, where the Wiegelsweg daycare center was proud to present its results. The head of the daycare emphasizes that dealing with the children's rights will also remain an integral part of pedagogical work beyond the project. The focus on participation and networking is no coincidence; After all, children's rights are not only a legal construct, but should be actively integrated into everyday life. As reported in Hessen , a total of 15 facilities at eleven locations have already been selected for the project in order to create a comprehensive awareness of children's rights.

The anchoring of children's rights in the Hessian state constitution and the appointment of a state representative for child and youth rights show that the topic is taken seriously on the broad front. The continuous exchange among the facilities is intended to continue the implementation of children's rights.

Overall, the Kita Wiegelsweg is not only a pioneer in the implementation of children's rights, but also a shining example of how important it is to raise awareness of your own rights in early childhood.
