Courageous return: MSC Melsungen starts on August 2nd despite fears about the weather!
The MSC Melsungen is looking forward with confidence to its upcoming 63rd International Grass Track Race, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 2nd. After two consecutive weather-related cancellations, the club is now hoping for better weather so that it can offer fans and drivers exciting races again. Last year the event had to be canceled due to downpours and the track was impassable, and in 2024 the race day was also canceled after strong thunderstorms. Mario Siebert, the second chairman of MSC Melsungen, speaks out and speaks of the fans' disappointments and the financial losses, which are in the low five-figure range. Despite the challenges, the club has not lost courage to continue offering first-class motorsport.
Preparations for the race are already in full swing and begin on race day at 9 a.m. with training runs before the speed karts and enduros take to the track from 10:30 a.m. The official driver introduction follows at 1 p.m., followed by a total of 25 races in various classes. The admission prices are attractive for spectators at 12 euros for adults and 5 euros for young people (14-17 years old). To round off the day in style, an after-race party will take place in the marquee in the evening.

A club with tradition
The MSC Melsungen is known in the region for its passion and commitment to motorsport. The club has created several areas, with track sports being the main division. Since the late 1970s, the youth trial division has also been operated to promote young talent. This division has inspired many members who remain true to their love of motorized sports. In addition to track sports and youth trials, the MSC Melsungen also offers vintage car and quad sports and is open to all types of two-wheelers, including shared bike tours.
The history of motorsport itself is fascinating and dates back to the early 19th century, when the first motor vehicle owners organized races. Much has changed from the first automobile races to the cutting-edge competitions we know today. Nevertheless, motorsport remains an exciting field of activity that is about more than just speed: community and passion are also in the foreground.
The MSC Melsungen, despite the challenges of the last few years, continues to pursue its course and brings enthusiasm to the region. See you soon on the grass track!
