On the night of August 10, 2025, the Schwalm-Eder district was rocked by a devastating fire that broke out in Singlis. The fire brigades from Singlis, Borken and Gombeth were alerted at around 4:30 a.m. after residents noticed the flames. The affected residents, including two men aged 69 and 55 and a 64-year-old woman, were fortunately able to escape the building unscathed. The damage totals around 250,000 euros. Not only was the vehicle under the carport damaged, but also a VW Sharan on the neighboring property. An ambulance in the yard also suffered significant damage, as did the blinds and plastic roofing on the front door of the neighboring building. After the fire-related activities, clean-up and extinguishing work was required until Sunday afternoon, and a total of 51 emergency services were deployed under the direction of city fire inspector Alexander Wilhelm.
