On Wednesday evening, the traditional approach of the 297th goat grove Salatkirmes was ceremoniously opened on Paradeplatz. The event, which once again captivated numerous visitors, was all about the good atmosphere, which was additionally fueled by the summer temperatures. Mayor Tobias Kreuter and Andree Dunkel opened the singing with a joint act, while the hunting horns of the Hubertus district hunting club sounded from the tower of the castle church. The evening was musically framed by the "Mixed Choir Steina" and the band "The Sunlights", which provided an exuberant feeling of celebration.

But the singing was only the start of a colorful fun fair program. The official opening of the fun fair takes place on Friday evening with the barrel beer tapping in the marquee. Before that, guests can look forward to the Lattchessen in the marquee on Thursday and the 7th goat grove duck race on the Schwalm. A special highlight on Thursday evening is the rock evening with the band "Just Queen". There is certainly something for every taste of music here!

Another piece of jewelry of the festival is the exhibition on the 50th anniversary of the death of Vincent Burek in the Schwalm museum, which gives visitors the opportunity to immerse yourself in history. These cultural interludes expand the traditional fair experience and offer guests and locals equally interesting perspectives.

The goat grove of the fun fair, which has established itself in Germany as part of the many folk festivals in Germany. These folk festivals, which are also known as Kirmes or Rummel, attract around 190 million people annually, depending on how the weather is played. And the goat grove salad fair is no exception!

The program of the coming days

Friday starts at 7 p.m. with a solemn march from the town hall to the Alleplatz. This is followed by the excited barrel tapping, followed by a musical evening with the band "Next Chapter", to which admission is free. On Saturday there are traditional serenade games of the fraternity and a children's afternoon in the marquee. In the evening, pure madness will appear with his band "Marriage Reloaded" - here you can be trembled and celebrated!

The big pageant will take place on Sunday, June 22nd, at 2 p.m. Under the motto "50 Years of German Märchenstraße", it will celebrate the colors and joie de vivre of the region. In addition, an ecumenical service in the marquee takes place on Sunday morning, where you can get in line with the community. And in the evening the “Schwälmer Neue Bühne” presents a music program that rounds off the fair visit.

On the fair Monday, a fire brigade exercise will be carried out on Paradeplatz from 10:30 a.m. In addition, the family day takes place on the fairground from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with reduced prices - a perfect opportunity for families to spend a good time together.

The goat grove Salatkirmes once again shows how much the traditions in the region are cultivated and that the focus is on community and fun. A small piece of Hesse that has attraction far beyond the city limits!
