Hessenfest 2025: Strong commitment to cooperation in Berlin!

This year's Hessenfest took place in the Hessian state representation in Berlin, and the guests were not disappointed. Over 2,500 people from politics, business, culture and society were invited to celebrate the diversity and strength of Hesse. Prime Minister Boris Rhein and the Minister for Federal Affairs, Manfred Pentz, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the federal and state governments in their speeches. Rhein emphasized that the states are strong partners of the federal government and showcase Hesse's innovative strength, while Pentz wants to tackle the challenges of change together.

Another highlight of the event was the inviting culinary delights: over 80 Hessian companies and associations presented their products and services. The guests were able to indulge in Hessian specialties such as Handkäs with music, Hessen kebab and a VDP wine lounge with top wines. The cultural part was provided by the Frankfurt Urban Club Band and presenter Tobi Radloff, who accompanied the celebrations. The Upper Hesse State Horticultural Show was also present with a pantomime advertisement, while DHL provided family fun with a Carrera racetrack.

Culture and commitment: The Hephata campaign

However, the social aspect did not fall by the wayside. Hephata was also represented at the Hessenfest and offered a special campaign under the motto “Love Letters instead of Hate Speech”. The guests were able to write handwritten letters of thanks to committed democrats from Hesse. Boris Rhein was the first to take part in this campaign to take a stand against hatred and incitement. Around 50 guests, including celebrities and politicians, took part in the campaign to show appreciation and respect. The letters should be shared on social media using the hashtag #openfordiversity.

A personal photo from a photo box accompanied each message, and Dagmar Krauße from “Open for Diversity” emphasized the importance of commitment to democracy. Hephata also invited the guests to a harvest festival on October 1, 2023 at her Bioland farm in Richerode, where a church service and farm festival are on the program.

A garden in Berlin

The Hessian State Representation, which has acted as a loudspeaker for Hessian interests since its inauguration on May 31, 2001, is also known for its impressive garden landscape. In 1997, Hesse secured a 3,000 square meter area in the Minister Gardens, where a vineyard with 200 vines was planted. In addition, there have been two apple trees from Hesse on the vineyard since spring 2023, which visually reflect Hessian pride.

The Hessenfest is not only a platform for presentation, but also a place for meetings and exchange. Conversations between the Hessian ministers present, the President of the German Bundestag Julia Klöckner, Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz and other politicians testify to a lively Hessian presence in Berlin that radiates far beyond the state's borders. It is clear that Hesse's innovative strength and cultural strength are highly valued - and not just in Berlin.

For everyone who was not able to experience this eventful festival live, there is now the opportunity to attend the upcoming events such as the Thanksgiving Festival and become part of the Hessian community.
