Hesse is investing EUR 800,000 for security and disaster control!
In the city of Homberg (Efze), active work is currently being done to ensure the safety of citizens. Hesse's Interior Minister Prof. Dr. Roman Poseck recently presented funding notices that will bring a total of almost EUR 800,000 to various projects in the Schwalm-Eder district. These funds flow into fire and disaster control, inter-municipal cooperation and the prevention of extremism, as nh24.de reports.
Particularly noteworthy is the support for the fire department in Homberg (Efze). The magistrate receives EUR 151,250 for a new fire engine (TLF 4000-V). Around 395 active firefighters are involved here, supported by 12 children's and 12 youth fire departments. In the last five years, Hesse has funded fire protection in the city with almost EUR 370,000. This is part of a wider initiative, with a total of over €2.3 million invested in 18 vehicles and nine construction projects over the last two years.
Funding for safety programs
Another significant portion of this funding goes into the emergency “Security at Events” program. EUR 100,000 will go to the communities of Neukirchen, Schwarzenborn, Frielendorf, Oberaula and Ottrau to develop security concepts for festivals. This support is extremely valuable, especially in times when security is of great importance.
In Frielendorf, where 280 active firefighters work in 13 district fire departments, the merger of the Verna and Allendorf district fire departments will receive EUR 30,000. In addition, the new construction of the Oberzeilebach fire station will be funded with EUR 345,400. It is particularly pleasing that the district's DEXT specialist office for the prevention and education against extremism is being supported with EUR 150,000. This specialist office is funded with up to EUR 50,000 annually in order to effectively promote democracy work and prevention.
Long-term investments in fire protection
The trend towards supporting fire and disaster protection is clear: Hesse is planning investments of around EUR 69 million in fire departments, vehicles, new buildings and training for 2025. This shows how important the country is to the safety of its citizens and how much emphasis is placed on supporting the fire service and disaster control.
Overall, these funds are a clear statement that the region is not only focusing on security, but is also taking active action to strengthen the community and be prepared for the challenges of the future. Let us hope that these initiatives have an impact and a positive impact on our society.
