Farewell to CC: Behrendt leaves Stadtkapelle Karben after 23 years

Karben, Deutschland - In a moving time for the Stadtkapelle Karben, the popular musical director Claus Carsten Behrendt, also known as "CC", says goodbye to his post in the Symphonic wind orchestra (SBO) after over two decades. After 23 years full of passion and dedication, Behrendt will give his last concert as a conductor in the Karben community center with the upcoming summer concert, which is under the motto "Diversity". This announcement came just a few weeks before the big event, which understandably strengthened the emotions in the ranks of the musicians and the audience.

The anticipation for the concert on June 15th is great. The program promises musical diversity and includes the work "Tanabata - The Seventh Night of July", which is inspired by the Japanese legend. The Stamitz clarinet concert No. 7 and a specially commissioned composition, "Destination proxima centauri b ... Find a new planet!", Are also on the list. The matinee in the community center will also come up with a mixture of Celtic melodies and a little hard rock. The tickets are already available in advance and from the members of the city chapel, which also rewarded the special efforts that were put into the organization.

Farewell in gratitude

Behrendt was not only a conductor, but also an integrative personality that the SBO significantly shaped. Kirstin Zeller, board member of the Stadtkapelle, and Angelina Nölker, who spoke farewell words on behalf of the musicians, emphasized his extraordinary performance and the influence he had on the orchestra. In the foyer of the citizens' center, photo shop walls were set up that capture memories of the years together. In honor of Behrendt, the musicians presented him with an apple tree that serves as a symbolic sign of thanks.

Behrendt, who has declared his resignation for organizational reasons, will not completely disappear from the musical stage; He remains head of the school orchestra of the Kurt Schumacher School in Karben. The future of the SBO remains unclear for the time being, because the upcoming concerts should be directed by a member of the orchestra, which raises the question of how the ensemble continues.

A look into the future

The Stadtkapelle Karben is one of eight ensembles that offer the region of musical diversity. In addition to the ongoing activities, the chapel also organizes trial samples for interested musicians. For those who want to learn the handicraft of the orchestral management, there is the opportunity to take part in a festival of the orchestral management, which aims at continuous learning and is open to the conducting of all levels. The festival offers numerous master classes and workshops that deal with different style and methodics.

A big thank you to Claus Carsten Behrendt for his outstanding work and for the musical experiences that he has conveyed numerous people in Karben and beyond. It remains exciting how the symphonic wind orchestra will develop in the future.
