Volunteer star Sebastian Dein: Award at Family Day!
The Nieder-Weisel music association played music in the Main-Kinzig district last weekend in a festive setting, and for good reason. At the invitation of the Linsengericht Citizens' List, the 35th family day of the voters' community in Linsengericht-Altenhaßlau took place here. The event not only offered a colorful program of classical marches, modern melodies and popular film music, conducted by Christoph Poltrum, but also the opportunity to honor a very special volunteer position.
In the midst of the musical enjoyment, Sebastian Dein, an active member of the music club, was awarded the letter of honor from the state of Hesse. This honor is given to people who demonstrate exceptional volunteer work. Sebastian Dein has been active in the brass music community since 1991 and plays the tenor horn with passion. His involvement ranges from various leadership positions in the club to organizing various musical activities.
A volunteer with a heart
The timing and circumstances of his award could not be more appropriate. In addition to his musical activity, Dein has also been a member of the Linsengericht community board since 2011 and is actively involved in the Free Voters/Citizens List. He is also co-founder of the Eintracht fan club “Hausberg-Adler” and is involved in the carnival society “Narrenzunft” Nieder-Weisel. The district administrator of the Main-Kinzig district, Thorsten Stolz, and Linsengericht mayor Albert Ungermann emphasized the importance of Dein's commitment to the community and democracy in their speeches.
A special highlight of his volunteer work is the tireless support of his family, which has enabled him to travel 150 kilometers a week for rehearsals since he moved to Altenhaßlau in 2008. “The camaraderie and musical joy are in the foreground,” emphasized Dein on this special day.
Lasting impact of the award
How important such voluntary work is in today's world is becoming clear again and again. Sebastian Dein's commitment is not only a ray of hope for the community, but also shows how important it is to stand up for the community and support others.
He continues his path as a musician and volunteer with all his heart, and so it is to be hoped that many other residents of Linsengericht will be inspired to also become active. As the Hessian award shows, such volunteer achievements are very welcome and could promote a bright future of cooperation in the communities.
Considering current events like this New York Times Connections Puzzle from November 1, 2025, which challenges players to find creative connections between words, it is even clearer how valuable such collaborative actions are. Even in small communities, the commitment of individuals acts as a catalyst for collective success and cohesion.
