Bad Nauheim becomes a digital pioneer: New Smart Region Hub opens!

What's happening in Bad Nauheim? On June 19, 2025, Hesse's third Smart Region Hub called “Digital.im.Puls” was officially opened. Like the city of Bad Nauheim reported, this hub is located in the modern coworking space Work Nouveau and aims to advance the digital transformation of municipalities.

The Hessian Minister for Digital Strategy and Development, Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus, emphasized Bad Nauheim's role model character for other cities at the opening. The hub will act as a place for ideas, exchange and collaboration and will focus primarily on innovation and smart technologies. Interactive events are offered to make the topics of digitalization and its benefits tangible for citizens.

Interactive experience

A special highlight of the hub is the digital planning table, which shows a city map and measurement data from sensors. An AI stele answers questions about digitalization using voice control, while virtual reality glasses present fascinating future scenarios for Bad Nauheim. Augmented reality also makes it possible to make sensors visible during city walks. A data ethics stele provides information about the path of the data collected by traffic sensors, which will certainly arouse the interest of residents.

The hub is also complemented by modern technology such as a 3D printer and a large LED wall, providing an immersive and interactive experience. The offerings range from workshops and conferences to interactive lectures that will take place on a regular basis. Information about the specific events will be published in the near future so that anyone interested can stay up to date.

Funding and goals

Bad Nauheim strives to increase the quality of life and attractiveness through digital projects. This is underlined by Smart City projects, which are supported with 2 million euros in state funds. The focus is on a digital city center management system that is based on an open urban data platform and also includes IoT/sensor systems. It supports municipalities in addressing important issues such as climate protection, security and quality of life.

Another starting point is the health city of Bad Nauheim, which is known for top-class medicine. The city has four hospitals, numerous preventive and rehabilitation clinics and a large number of doctor's practices. These circumstances provide fertile ground for healthcare innovations to be developed within the Smart Region Hub.

With regular exchange formats and events, the hub aims to build an active community and bring together interested parties from different areas - be it from business, research or education. The aim is to establish a strong network for digital solutions in the industry.

In summary, Bad Nauheim is taking a big step towards the digital future with the “Digital.im.Puls” hub. The city is pulling together to find and implement innovative solutions to the challenges of our time. More information and details about the diverse offerings will soon be available on the official Smart Region Hub website - it's worth a visit!
