Bad Nauheim relies on sustainable development in the new regional plan!

A lot is happening in Bad Nauheim! The preliminary draft of the regional land use plan for the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main conurbation is now publicly available. How Bad Nauheim reported, the city has prepared a detailed statement on this draft. This has already been recommended to the committee for construction, planning and green spaces as well as the city council and was approved by a majority at the last meeting.

The city has now submitted this statement via the Hessian participation portal for early participation by the authorities. The preliminary draft, which was developed by the Darmstadt regional council in collaboration with the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main regional association, controls important areas such as settlement development, transport infrastructure and open space protection for the municipalities in the metropolitan area.

Important deadlines and requirements

There is a significant time window for the regions in the metropolitan area, including Bad Nauheim: municipalities and public bodies can submit statements until December 15th. The preliminary draft stipulates that Bad Nauheim is considered a preferred location, but is not defined as a relief municipality for the metropolitan region. This raises questions, and the city has already developed a counterproposal to keep the residential building area stable at around 30 hectares.

The city's commitment is also reflected in the preparatory urban planning work and coordination on the planned residential and commercial areas that has already been carried out. The aim is to formulate the change requests in such a way that they correspond to the legal requirements of the development plans and existing uses.

Sustainability and safety in focus

Another central point in the statement is the call to take into account climatic protection functions, groundwater protection and monument preservation concerns. The preliminary draft also contains new illustrations of flood risks that could affect existing structures. Here Bad Nauheim is asking the regional association for practical solutions to meet the flood requirements.

In this context, the city is now examining the possible effects of the regional land use plan on ongoing and planned projects and is clarifying the necessary technical studies. The developments surrounding the preliminary draft are of great importance, and it will be exciting to see how the feedback from municipalities and citizens will ultimately lead to the final plan.

The plan can be viewed on the Hessian participation portal, where statements can also be submitted by the specified deadline. For Bad Nauheim and the surrounding areas, this represents a further step towards future-oriented urban development.
