Gymnastics from Maintal experience unforgettable weekend in Luisant!
What an exciting weekend for the TG Dörnigheim gymnasts! At the Corpus Christi they met with their French friends in Maintal's twin town of Luisant. The aim of the visit was a sporting exchange that not only had physical skills, but also cultural discoveries and new friendships in his luggage. The beginning was promising: During the journey, the hit "Je ne parle pas français" caused an exuberant mood among the children's voices, although language barriers were shown right from the start.
But what is the name of? Where there is a will, there's a way. Despite the initial difficulties, the participants found ways to communicate. They learned a few French words and developed creative, non -verbal communication methods. So the program began on Thursday evening with a joint training that laid the foundation for the upcoming activities.
cultural journey of discovery
Friday started with a climax: a visit to the impressive Chartres cathedral was on the plan. After a first exploration of the city and a warm welcome from a host family, we continued in the afternoon with further training. The magical light spectacle "Chartres en Lumière" was then concluded with the exciting day, which gave the weekend a special note.
Saturday came up with other exciting experiences. In a trampoline park, the gymnasts were able to try their jumping skills and try them out in the trapeze volant. The first joint gymnastics unit of both clubs was also coming up, which brought a lot of joy and cohesion. Particular attention was paid to the graffiti works of art in Luisant, which not only served as a creative form of expression, but also as a lasting memory in the group photos.
a full success
The weekend was described as a complete success by the participants. It clearly showed how sport and culture can beat bridges between nations. The energetic encounters and personal team training have all sustainably impressed. The German participants in particular could benefit from the good equipment of the French guest team, which is a valuable experience.
A similar concept also follows the German-Czech student exchange, which took place on June 4, 2023 after a four-year break between the comprehensive school Edertal and the Czech partner school Horní Čermná. 19 students from the Edertal school welcomed their guest students and enjoyed a week full of cultural exchange, which was made possible by the support of the German-Czech future fund and the host families. Together they explored the region, visited local companies and experienced exciting activities such as the water features in the Wilhelmshöhe Bergpark.
The organization of the exchange is in the hands of Antje Kuswa, who successfully implemented the program together with the teachers and the host families. In the coming school year, the Edertal students can look forward to a return visit to Horní Čermná, which will certainly be another highlight.
