Despite the courageous commitment of the entire team, SV Gelnhausen took twelfth place in the team ranking. The result was not enough to stay in the league, so that the team will compete again in the 1st Hessen League from 2026. In retrospect, the athletes look forward to exciting duels against their local rivals and traditional clubs.

Despite the difficult conditions, the team showed a brave in the second competition of the season, a competition over 500 meters swimming, 20 kilometers cycling and running 5 kilometers. Here David Behnsen was the fastest Gelnhäuser with a time of 59:51 minutes. Together with Felix Gundlach, the duo was able to assert itself in the top group. Behnsen managed to classify himself in the second wheel group, while his teammates Christian Senzel, Benjamin Hartmann and Pascal Knebel had to contest cycling without a connection to a slipstream group. Pascal Knebel jumped in for the sick Andreas Hinrich at short notice.

The meaning of the triathlon

triathlon is an even young, but increasingly popular sport that started in San Diego in 1974. The first competitions took place in Germany in 1982 and the German Triathlon Union was founded in 1985. Sport has developed rapidly and has been an Olympic discipline since 2000. Around 600 triathlon events take place in Germany every year, and the largest event is the ITU World Triathlon Series in Hamburg, in which around 10,000 participants and over 250,000 spectators are expected. This shows the enormous interest and enthusiasm for this sport.

The athletes of SV Gelnhausen would like to move back to the regional league in the future, and the challenges they had to master this season will surely be remembered as valuable lessons. It is clear that the fighting spirit and the passion of triathletes are unbroken and they are ready to face the challenges of the next season.
