Sensational village run in Kefenrod: Christian Oppel triumphs!
The 34th village run took place in Kefenrod today in tropical temperatures, and the local running community showed once again that they are ready for such challenges. Around 200 participants competed in various distances. The main run of the event in particular, which is part of the Main-Kinzig Challenge, provided excitement and highlights. The GNZ reports that Christian Oppel from Eschborn took first place in a strong 36:51 minutes.
The other places were followed by Thomas Seibert from the Büdingen running project and Lennard Herber from TV Gelnhausen, who were happy with 38:52.6 minutes and 39:15.9 minutes respectively. Christian Oppel, who returned to the track after a three-year break from competition, felt great despite the heat and was able to survive the high temperatures unscathed.
Women and other winners
The fastest woman of the day was Lorena Kohlas from Dortelweil, who crossed the finish line in 45:05.7 minutes. Her participation was part of the preparation for the Ultra Trail in Ischgl, which also left an exciting impression on the female athlete community.
Florian Bartels from Ober-Mörlen shone in the 5 km distance and won with a time of 16:58.7 minutes. The achievements of the Bartels family were particularly noteworthy: While Florian won, his daughter Finja prevailed in the school race, and her sister Linnea came in fifth place. Other placings in the 5 km distance, which demonstrated a lot of the strong competition, are:
| Place | name | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 2. | Dennis Beermann (LSC Bad Nauheim) | 18:41.2 minutes |
| 3. | Nils Schrodt (SSC Hanau-Rodenbach) | 19:08.4 minutes |
| – | Viktoria Colista (main home) | 23:11 minutes |
Nice framework conditions
The event ran smoothly and the weather held out until after the final finish, although it only began to rain after the awards ceremony. A very special participant was 88-year-old Gerhard Dönges from LLT Wallernhausen. He completed the route in a respectable 1:52 hours, an impressive demonstration of endurance and passion.
What is particularly noteworthy is that Norbert Wolf from Unterreichenbach extended his lead in the M70 age group and stayed under an hour despite his age. A great example of how running is suitable for every age group.
All results of the village run can be viewed online at oberhessencup.de and main-kinzig-challenge.de. These platforms are an important tool for participants to track their performance.
We would also like to remind you that the German Athletics Association (DLV) has introduced an internationally validated questionnaire for future events in order to better assess health risks. Athletics.de offers further information for organizers to raise awareness of preventive health care.
The village run once again showed the community and sporting cohesion that the region can be proud of. It will be exciting to see how the runners will present themselves in the next challenge!
