When it comes to top sporting performance, Hünfelder SV is at the forefront of Hessian athletics. At the weekend, the club's athletes caused a sensation at the Hessian U20 and U16 Championships in Gelnhausen. The balance is impressive: three gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals were the haul that distinguished the club as the most avid medal collector ( East Hesse News ).
A total of 33 athletes from the HLV district of Fulda-Hünfeld took part. Hünfelder SV provided 15 participants and thus made a significant contribution to the success of the district, which achieved a total of five championship titles, one runner-up title and six third places. The delegation from Hünfeld left the event with a glowing medal count and was able to significantly exceed the performance of the other clubs such as TV Flieden and TLV Eichenzell.
Top performances in sprints and over hurdles
The performance of Greta Lucia Ritz, who was crowned Hesse champion in the WJU20 over 400m hurdles, was particularly impressive. With a time of 62.19 seconds, she is also one of the best in the German best list. Another highlight was Emma Röhrdanz, who shone in several disciplines: She won bronze in the 80m hurdles, silver in the 100m sprint and gold in the 300m long sprint with an excellent time of 41.43 seconds, which earned her 6th place in the German best list ( Hünfelder SV ).
No less exciting was the 4x100m relay, which won the Hessen championship title under the banner of the Hünfeld-Eichenzell-Flieden starting community with a time of 49.82 seconds and also found itself in the German best list. The attention also fell on Lia Maja Laudt, who secured a bronze medal in the high jump with 1.51m. Her goal for the coming season: to break the 1.60m mark, which could soon be within reach.
Honors and innovations
A welcome innovation at this year's Hessian Championships concerns the coaches of the successful athletes: They also received gold medals, which underlines the importance of their work. The Hünfelder SV coach was pleased to receive three of these awards, a well-deserved reward for his dedicated work in the background.
