An exciting derby between TV Gelnhausen and HSG Hanau did not end with the hoped-for victory for Gelnhausen, but instead resulted in a fair draw of 25:25. After a turbulent 60 minutes, in which both teams once again demonstrated their fighting strength, TV Gelnhausen remains in third place in the table with 19:5 points. Despite a challenging week of training due to a flu epidemic, the players showed remarkable motivation and solidarity, which head coach Matthias Geiger also praised.
The week before the game was anything but easy for HSG Gelnhausen: long-term injuries like Leon David (shoulder) and Akos Csaba (cruciate ligament) would have taken a toll on the team. In addition, captain Jonathan Malolepszy was ruled out due to illness. Jannik Geisler and Fynn Hilb were also injured and were only able to train to a limited extent.
