Triathlon team Bad Orb promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga – a milestone!

In Bad Orb, Hesse, the women's triathlon team celebrated a remarkable promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. On July 6, 2025, the team led by Stephanie Weiß achieved an impressive performance at the final competition of the season. Although the team was never at the top of the table throughout the season, they secured the decisive place for promotion with a second win of the day after Darmstadt.

Stephanie Weiß herself reached the finish line in second place, while Antonia Lembeck came in third. The two athletes had a comfortable lead of 45 seconds over their pursuers. Lisa Heinrichs rounded off the excellent result with a fifth place, while Diana Engelmann took eleventh place. “The team performance was crucial,” emphasized the team leader, who highlighted the successful tactics for the slipstream race.

Antonia Lembeck's promising debut

Another bright spot for the team is the talent of Antonia Lembeck. She completed her third triathlon in Bottendorf and showed that she has great potential. She said that she would particularly like to work on the technical details of cycling and running. Lembeck was already active in the first triathlon in Schlitz and led the field until the first kilometer of the run before she reached seventh place. Lisa Heinrichs also contributed to the success with her fifth place with the best individual result, as the regional news paper Mein Blättche reports.

With the strong end-of-season results, Team Bad Orb's second women's team also remains in a solid second place in the regional league table, behind the leading team from Mainz. The team has proven itself in two races and shows that there is still a lot of potential in the regional league.

A permanent place in the sport of triathlon

The promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga is a real milestone for the triathlon department from Bad Orb. This will be represented with a team in both the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga next season. This shows that the team plays a serious role not only in the region but also in the national competition. Future competitions under the Bad Orb banner could prove to be just as exciting.

In addition, team leader Stephanie Weiß is also making headlines in other competitions: She was crowned German Police Champion in Eutin and will compete in the summer night run in Eidengesäß next week. Alice Riebler also achieved a respectable 13th place in the elite field at the European Cup in Wels, Austria, and Sarah Walter is one of the favorites at the German Youth Championships in Roth. The team shows that it is very popular in all age groups and classes and has definitely earned a place in Hessian triathlon sport.
