Giessen talents shine at district table tennis championships!
In Altenstadt, real tournament fireworks were recently set off at the district championships in table tennis. The Giessen players impressed across the board and were able to take home numerous medals. Emily Stanko from TTC Wißmar secured third place in the girls U19 category, showing that table tennis is very popular in the region. But that was just the tip of the iceberg!
Overall, the people of Giessen were proud17 medalsclear:
- 10 Bronze-Medaillen (5 im Einzel, 5 im Doppel)
- 5 Silber-Medaillen (2 im Einzel, 3 im Doppel)
- 2 Goldmedaillen (Doppel)
In particular, the sisters Celina and Emilia Böshans from TSV Allendorf/Lumda delivered a great performance and secured the title in the doubles category. But the Giessen team not only shone in the doubles, they also achieved strong results in the singles finals. Ilias Grama in the U11 and Celina Böshans in the U13 reached the finals, but had to admit defeat.
Outstanding achievements
In the girls U15 category, Majomi Marie Klingelhöfer was a real ace and reached the finals with a score of 2:1. Synnove Ehrt, on the other hand, made it into the main round without defeat, but had to admit defeat in the semi-finals against Wang (SG Büchenberg). However, both Ehrt and Böshans brought home a win against Seibert/Klingelhöfer in doubles.
Among the U13 girls, the M13 impressed with the best interim balance and four main round participants. What stands out here is the performance of Böshans, who lost out in the final against Schürmann (TSC Freigericht) after a win against Mendel (TTV Selters). There was also good news for the U11 girls: Nina Fokina and Svea Riediger were able to play their way into the main round, while Fokina was eliminated in the semi-finals without a win against Dittmann (SG Büchenberg).
Boys, the fight for the podium
But the boys weren't left out either. In the U19, Ben Lehmann was the only one from Giessen to survive the group phase, but he couldn't beat Hans (SG Marbach). Nevertheless, the Giessen boys U15 showed that they have a good hand and Janne Weiß made it to the main field, while the other boys were eliminated. The Giessen U11 boys can be particularly proud: They made up the largest contingent with eight participants and celebrated winning one silver and two bronze medals.
Erik Schepp (SV Ettingshausen) and Ilias Grama (TSV Allendorf) made it to the final, but Grama had to give up against Habibi (TSG Erlensee). The youth work in the region is obviously paying off and the next championships are just around the corner.
The names of Synnove Ehrt and Kira Aeberhard are now also mentioned in the context of the Hessian individual championships - we keep our fingers crossed that they can shine there as well. So it remains to be seen what happens next for the talents from Giessen, who have more than proven themselves!
