75 years VdK Hammersbach: A festival for social justice!
Hammersbach, Deutschland - The VdK local association Hammersbach recently celebrated a very special anniversary: its 75th anniversary. The festivity took place in the Langen-Bergheimer Bürgertreff and attracted around 75 guests, including numerous local and state politicians and the loyal members of the association. OV chairman Peter Bruske took the opportunity to give an insight into the significant work of the VdK. He emphasized that the local association has existed since its current form 15 years ago after the previous separate offshoots merged in the districts.
from the foundation to the present day
The association has been able to record impressive membership development since 2007: At that time, the VDK only counted 70 members, today it is a proud 229. The main task of the VdK, the largest social association in Germany with over 2.3 million members, remains the deployment for people in need. With the motto "socially into the future", the association confirms its claim to be the social conscience of the Federal Republic. The VDK not only works for the concerns of older people, but also for the participation of people with disabilities, nursing and health issues as well as the fight against poverty.
A look at the story
During the celebration, Bodo Schwabe presented a chronicle of the Hammersbach local association, in which he called important personalities who shaped the club. Mayor Michael Göllner pointed to the Marköbeler Kriegerverein, which was founded in 1871 and is considered the forerunner of the VdK. Historically, the Social Association VdK Deutschland e. V. helped to shape many social changes. So it all started in Berlin in January 1950, and since then the association has published many campaigns and statements on important social issues as a denominational neutral association.
a musical end
The celebration was completed with song lectures by the male choir Singing greeting Marköbel, with not only the warm sounds, but also the community of the VdK and its members. The success and the challenges that the association has mastered over the years testify to his strong commitment to social justice and support from the needy.
Overall, the event in Hammersbach not only illustrates the importance of the VdK on site, but also brings the nationwide concerns and achievements of the association into the light. While the VdK celebrates its roots in Hesse, he bravely looks into the future and remains an essential player in the social structure of Germany.
