Hochtaunuskreis donates minibus and rescue vehicles for Ukraine!
In a dedicated initiative, the Ukrainehilfe Taunus association, founded in March 2023 by District Administrator Ulrich Krebs, once again demonstrated its support for the Ukrainian twin town of Zhovti Vody. Today, a minibus was handed over to the promotion of people with impairments to Mayor Dmytro Khanis in a solemn handover. This donation is part of a larger package that also includes two ambulances that have already been sent to the city. Taunus Nachrichten reports that…
The vehicle has a value of around 56,000 euros and was donated by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). The minibus was requested by Zhovti Vody at the request of Zhovti, and the Hochtaunuskreis successfully campaigned for it. In addition, the humanitarian aid is supplemented by five emergency electricity and various orthopedic aids that come from privately collected donations from the Hochtaunuskreis.
commitment across borders
The cooperation between the Hochtaunuskreis and Zhovti Vody has existed since mid-February 2023. The city, which has around 43,000 inhabitants, has had to deal with infrastructure problems before the Ukraine War and now houses around 6,000 refugees, especially from the competitive Bachmuth area. If necessary, this situation requires long -term support that goes beyond the acute crisis. The UkraineHilfe Taunus association is headed by District Administrator Ulrich Krebs and has set itself the task of supporting the city not only in the crisis situation, but also in reconstruction. Hochtaunuskreis points out that ...
Medical care in Zhovti Vody is severely restricted; In the local clinic, many of the devices are very well over. The situation is tense from a single incubator with jumped windows to over 50-year-old surgical tables to a lack of sick beds and wheelchairs. In order to remedy this, the clinic has created a list of required medical devices that urgently need to be renewed. These include high-quality X-ray systems, ultrasound devices and also modern operating lamps.
European support for Ukraine
The international community is also committed to Ukraine. The European Commission recently provided 148 million euros for humanitarian aid to support around 12.7 million people in Ukraine who urgently need help due to the ongoing Russian attack. of these 148 million euros are 140 million for humanitarian projects in Ukraine, including food, health care and accommodations. The support from the EU also includes delivery of benefits in kind, such as medical equipment and emergency accommodation that are crucial for the help on site.
The cooperation between clubs, institutions and the EU shows how important aid actions are to support people in Zhovti Vody and the entire Ukraine during this challenging time. Above all, medical care and the care of refugees urgently need further attention and funds.
