Wave of burglaries in the Hochtaunus district: bakery and terraced house affected!
The past week brought exciting, albeit worrying, events in the Hochtaunus district. The towns of Oberursel and Bad Homburg have been the scene of controversial incidents, ranging from break-ins to an e-scooter accident. What's going on here?
On the night of Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:20 a.m., two unknown perpetrators broke into a bakery branch in Oberursel-Oberstedten. The criminals pried open the side entrance door of an adjacent supermarket. While one of the perpetrators stole cash from the cash registers, the other stood guard. Both then fled in an unknown car. The crime was recorded by a surveillance camera, which means the police hope to quickly get information about the perpetrators. Citizens who saw something are asked to contact the Oberursel police station on (06171) 6240-0. This is not the only burglary that concerns the city: on Thursday, November 13th, three men climbed out of a kitchen window of a terraced house on Rosengärtchen Street. The fleeing perpetrators were observed by a neighbor and escaped in a gray small car. Here too, the police came across a broken window on the ground floor, but the search for the suspects was unsuccessful.
Accidents in Bad Homburg
Another incident occurred on Thursday morning, November 13, 2025, in Bad Homburg. A 39-year-old e-scooter driver was slightly injured at the intersection of Höhestraße and Kirdorfer Straße. When turning in, the young driver overlooked the e-scooter that had the right of way and caused the fall. The scooter driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. E-scooter accidents have been an issue since they were approved for use on roads on June 15, 2019: In 2023, the number of e-scooter accidents with personal injuries rose by 14.1% to 9,425 accidents, with 22 people dying. A majority of the accidents occurred in large cities, and many of the drivers involved were under 25 years old. Security is therefore an urgent issue.
Painting or glitch?
Anyone who thought things couldn't get any more bizarre was proven wrong on the afternoon of November 13th in Wehrheim. There, a truck traveling on the industrial road lost some of its paint buckets, resulting in the road becoming contaminated with white paint. The driver was stopped on “Am Erlenbach” street, where it was discovered that damaged paint buckets in the loading area were responsible for the unfortunate situation. Fortunately, the paint spill did not pose a road hazard, so a cleaning company was called to repair the situation. A small mishap that caused a laugh, but definitely a memorable incident.
The events of these days illustrate the challenges that the communities in the Hochtaunuskreis are facing. Citizens are still called upon to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police. Stay safe!
