Cars looted in Bad Homburg: civil courage ends in violence!
There is currently a red alert in Bad Homburg when it comes to vehicle safety. On the night of July 20th to 21st, 2025, unknown perpetrators were up to mischief in the area of Graf-Stauffenberg-Ring and Valkenierstrasse. The thieves targeted at least five cars, ransacking several vehicles and only took a few euros in cash and a pair of sunglasses. The incident is part of a worrying trend, as police suspect that the perpetrators took advantage of a so-called “keyless go” system. Radio wave extenders are used, with which the vehicles can be opened within seconds without the thieves needing any special knowledge for hacking. As auto-motor-und-sport reports to us, a simple, legally available device is enough to extend the signal of the car key and steal a vehicle in no time.
The surveillance cameras recorded some details about the perpetrators. They were wearing dark clothing, short-sleeved shirts and carrying backpacks. One of the perpetrators was particularly noticeable, wearing white Nike sneakers. This type of crime is particularly insidious because the burglars don't even leave any trace of a break-in - which could raise suspicions of insurance fraud. Police authorities advise not to leave the keyless key near doors or windows and recommend using shields such as aluminum foil or special boxes to prevent the key from being read for safety.
A bold intervention with dangerous consequences
But it's not just the cars that are a target, brave citizens who show civil courage also have to fear for their safety in Bad Homburg. On Monday evening, July 21, 2025, a 36-year-old man took pity on the street “Schöne Aussicht” and decisively intervened in an argument between a man and a woman. But his willingness to help was bitterly punished: the aggressor attacked the helper and damaged his clothing. The perpetrator fled to Thomasstrasse and the police have now started an investigation into bodily harm. Witnesses are asked to call 06172 / 120-0.
The worrying developments in Bad Homburg are putting citizens under pressure and increasing the feeling of insecurity. In addition to car theft and physical attacks, the question arises as to how you can protect yourself better. So, to be on the safe side, vehicle owners should take proactive measures to protect their property. As you can see, in these times it is not only important to park your car safely, but also to protect yourself in a potentially dangerous scenario.
The Bad Homburg police are relying on information about the thefts and physical assault. Concerned cooperation can ultimately help clarify the incidents and help increase security in the city.
