The Ikano Bank Marathon Wiesbaden is just around the corner and the anticipation is already palpable! On June 28, 2025, the Hessian state capital will become a running mile when more than 7,500 participants take to the route. In recent years, this event has developed from a simple midsummer run into a popular city marathon, not least due to the growing number of participants. Registration for the marathon currently has over 2,500 entries - a number that is increasing every hour.

The field of participants in the half marathon is particularly impressive, with over 2,000 registrations - the highest participation in this discipline. Overall, the marathon event will be characterized by a further increase in registrations; since the premiere, the number of marathon runners has increased almost fivefold, so that well over 500 participants are now expected for the 42.195 kilometer route. This leads through picturesque sections of Wiesbaden, past the impressive Kurhaus and ending at the charming Schlossplatz.

A variety of distances and an exciting supporting program

In addition to the marathon and half marathon, there are also a variety of other distances that make athletes' hearts beat faster: a children's run, a 3-kilometer trial run, a company relay over 5 kilometers and a 10-kilometer run complete the program. Over 2,000 school children also take part in the activities, setting a new record for Friday.

The event starts on Friday, June 27th, with a pasta party and the children's runs. What's special this year: Organizers attach great importance to accessibility and short distances in order to offer all participants and spectators a pleasant stay. This year, the finish area on Schlossplatz will be filled with music, lights and delicious food trucks, and the so-called “Midnight Finish” will create a special atmosphere.

The route profile and registration options

The route itself is in flat terrain with minimal elevation gain, perfect for runners aiming for their best times. The official measurement by the German Athletics Association also guarantees that the distance meets the highest standards. Registration is possible up to two hours before the start, and the entry fees vary between 5 and 96 euros depending on the distance and registration date.

The event will take place this year under the naming partnership with Ikano Bank, which ends in 2025 - but the marathon will certainly continue to be well received under a new name in the future. In Germany, marathons, in which a total of 131 events took place in 2023, are a popular sport that can inspire more and more people.
