Dispute over bus stop: Why X17 drives past cemetery!
Dispute over bus stop: Why X17 drives past cemetery!
Sindlingen, Deutschland - The current dispute over the “Sindlingen Friedhof” stop runs like a thread through Frankfurt's transport policy. In the event of a vote in the local advisory board 6, the magistrate recently had to reject an application from the Greens, which wanted the Express bus line X17 at this stop. As fnp reports the X17 misses the stop by around 75 meters. This causes resentment for residents, since since 1994 there is no direct bus connection from Sindlingen to Hattersheim.
The justification of the magistrate is complex: a stop would extend the total driving time of the line X17 and possibly endanger attractive connections to train stations. Another obstacle is the turn of the bus in Neu-Isenburg, which is only four minutes. The magistrate also mentions the need for additional buses and drivers to enable a new hold.
alternatives in local transport
As the city of Frankfurt shows in its comprehensive transport analysis, the local transport offer in the main metropolis is rich. In addition to bus and trams, the S-Bahn ensures the connection to the surrounding area. An approach that comes into play in this case is the call collection taxi (AST) 837. This connection serves Sindlingen and Hattersheim and runs from Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. every 30 minutes. A change at the “Friedhof Sindlingen cemetery” stop to the Frankfurt bus lines X53, 54 and M55 is also possible here.
Although the X53 line offers a connection to the airport, it is a detour for travel destinations in Hattersheim because it does not go there. The present situation makes it clear that an additional stop at the “Friedhof Sindlingen” stop could enable a sensible networking of the various means of transport.
political considerations and future planning
Another point that comes up again and again is the re -evaluation of the timetable when commissioning the regional tangent West. The magistrate has announced that a supplementary stop at the said stop could then possibly also be checked. In addition, there was a similar request from the CDU, which was previously rejected, which shows that the topic is not only concerned with the Greens.
The demands for a better connection between Sindlingen and Hattersheim have not fallen silent over the years. On October 29, 2024, the local advisory board had already decided in its meeting to ask the magistrate to examine this topic more intensively. But the way to a solution remains rocky.
Frankfurt has a dense, coordinated and user -friendly local transport network, but the targeted connection can sometimes appear like a wire rope act. The partners involved - including Traffiq and VGF - are required how this puzzle can be put together for everyone involved. Ultimately, it is due to the magistrate whether, after years of inadequacy, passengers can soon use the hoped -for connection.
