Wave of burglaries in the Main-Taunus: ice cream parlor and construction site in sight!

What is happening in the Main-Taunus district? In the past few days there have been several incidents that have caused excitement and investigations. Break-ins into local shops and checks on people with weapons show that the security situation in the region remains an important issue.

On Sunday evening, August 24, 2025, an ice cream parlor in the Main-Taunus Center in Sulzbach was hit. Between 10:00 p.m. and 11:55 p.m., unknown perpetrators forcibly gained access and stole a safe in which cash was stored. The police are looking for information from the public. Anyone who has observed something can contact the Hofheim criminal police directly at the number(06196) 2073-0turn around.

Construction site containers in sight

But it wasn't just restaurants that were targeted by burglars. Between Wednesday, August 20th and Monday morning, August 25th, a construction site container in Helfmann Park in Eschborn was broken into. The perpetrators stole tools and fuel worth around 10,000 euros. They may have used a vehicle to transport them. Information about this will be sent to the Eschborn police station(06196) 9695-0.

The burglary statistics speak for themselves: According to current data, the numbers show a worrying increase in residential burglaries in Germany. In 2023 approximately 77,800 burglaries registered - an increase of an incredible 181 percent compared to 2022. Security and preventive measures are becoming increasingly important.

Illegal gun ownership in focus

The police also had a 57-year-old man in Bad Soden in their sights on Monday morning, August 25th. He was controlled with a deceptively real-looking airsoft gun. The man could not produce a firearms license, which is why the weapon was confiscated. An investigation was initiated against him for a violation of the weapons law. The police have issued an external warning: fake weapons are not allowed to be carried in public.

And as if that wasn't enough, a 19-year-old e-scooter driver was also checked in Eschborn-Niederhöchstadt on Monday. The test returned a positive result for THC, indicating cannabis use. It also turned out that the e-scooter he was riding had been reported stolen since 2023. Several investigations were also initiated against him and a blood sample was taken at the office.

Current incidents show that both theft and the handling of weapons are serious issues in the region. With an increase in burglaries and illegal gun possession, it is important to be vigilant and take security measures when necessary. It remains to be hoped that the police will respond quickly to the information and the perpetrators will be caught quickly.
