Drama in Flörsheim: Couch burns down, Porsche driver flees!
In the last few days there have been several incidents in the Main-Taunus district that have concerned both the police and residents. From an e-bike theft in Eschborn to an arson in Flörsheim to a daring accident with a Porsche in Hofheim, there is a lot to report.
On the evening of July 16, 2025, a silver-colored “Cube Supreme Hybrid SL 625” Pedelec was stolen on Dörnweg in Eschborn. The crime occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the following day. Unknown perpetrators broke into a garage where the bicycle was secured with a lock. Even if the lock was cut, the police encourage the public to report any relevant information to the Eschborn police on (06196) 9695-0. The value of the stolen bike is significant and similar incidents are unfortunately not uncommon - theft statistics show that the risk is high in many cities, especially with the increase in e-bike users in recent years.
Arson in Flörsheim
On July 17, 2025, at around 8:00 p.m., a couch that was lying as bulky waste in a pedestrian underpass on Riedstrasse caught fire for unknown reasons. The Flörsheim fire department was quickly on site and was able to quickly extinguish the fire before it spread to the adjacent federal highway 519. The criminal police have now initiated the investigation and are asking possible witnesses to call (06196) 2073-0.
The busy pedestrian underpass is not only a passageway for pedestrians, but also an area that has repeatedly been in the headlines for vandalism in recent months. This latest arson is causing concern among residents.
Rapid escape resulting in an accident in Hofheim
The incident was even more dramatic in the early morning of July 18, 2025, when a 26-year-old Porsche driver fled from the police in Hofheim. At 1:09 a.m. he tried to evade control by driving at high speeds and in a risky manner. Ignoring red lights and overtaking in a right-hand bend, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house wall. The driver was initially able to get to safety on foot, but was later arrested. The total damage from the accident is estimated at around 35,000 euros. In addition, a red small car nearby was at risk during the overtaking maneuver, which further escalated the situation.
The Hofheim police have started the investigation and are calling on witnesses to provide information by calling (06192) 2079-0.
Overall, it is clear that the security situation in the Main-Taunus district is challenging. The police are working intensively to investigate these crimes and are inviting citizens to help.
