But that's not all: the German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering also brings fresh ideas to the scene. It has launched various funding programs that are aimed precisely at strengthening civil society. This includes the program100xDigital, which supports 100 nonprofit organizations in their digital transformation. Deadline for entries is thisJuly 7, 2025. The micro-funding program also helps small initiatives implement their projects efficiently. Educational activities on global issues can also be carried out by500 eurosBenefit from funding, which is supported by DSEE and BMZ. German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering provides an overview.
The urgency of social initiatives
At a time when social issues are very important, it is important that such projects are given a chance to develop further. The focus is on inclusion and participation, because without commitment little works in our society. Rather, successful projects should grow and spread to reach even more people.
But something is not only happening in the area of funding. The Federal Association of German Insurance Merchants (BVK) has stated that it supports the second law to strengthen company pension schemes. There was positive feedback on tax improvements and expansion of the social partner model, but the BVK warns against excluding insurance intermediaries. The planned new regulation for the continuation of direct insurance also leaves a lot of room for discussion.
The healthcare system at a glance
There are also developments in healthcare: AXA and DBV now offer electronic patient records (ePA) for their customers with full health insurance. This app is intended to help bundle medical data. This can reduce duplicate examinations and improve the quality of care. According to the Federal Statistical Office, the direct medical costs in Germany totaled impressively in 2023491.6 billion euros, which represents an increase of61.5 billion euroscompared to 2020. What is particularly striking is that over half of the costs fall on people aged 65 and over, which underlines the need for a well-functioning healthcare system.
There are also positive signals for the insurance industry: R+V Versicherung was able to achieve an increase of9.2 percentin the contribution income. Board member Norbert Rollinger is confident that this growth will continue throughout the year. And the financial fund also has a turnover of341.2 million eurosset a new record in 2024. A clear indication that a solid growth strategy and a focus on digitalization and service quality lead to success.
All of these developments show that there is a lot going on in the areas of volunteering, health care and insurance. Whether in small local projects or in large institutions – commitment and vision are needed more than ever!
