265 new diploma financial economists start: Key to Hesse's tax administration!

On July 20, 2025, the time had come: 265 graduates celebrated their graduation at the University of Finance and Administration (HHFR) in Rotenburg. After successfully passing the career tests, you can now call yourself a degree in finance finance economists and start their new phase of life in the Hessian tax administration. The solemn occasion was moderated by Julia Nestle and accompanied by Felix Kohlhoff. In his speech, finance minister R. Alexander Lorz congratulated the graduates and underlined the importance of stable tax revenue for the state of Hesse. For many, the career begins with a dual course of study, which not only includes specialist studies at the university, but also practical phases in the tax offices. The focus here is on topics such as tax law and sales tax. From August 2025, the new candidates can look forward to monthly remuneration of around 1737 euros gross, which will increase to around 1833 euros from December 2025. In addition, the students benefit from a free national ticket for local public transport and expect secure, attractive career opportunities in the Hessian tax administration.

The application process for 2025 has now been completed, as can be experienced on the career side of the Hessian tax administration. Applications are no longer accepted, but the documents for future applicants are well listed: from application letters to evidence to internships. Particular attention is paid to promoting equality between women and men. Applications from women and people with a migration background are particularly encouraged to promote cultural diversity in tax administration.

The dual study of the Bachelor of Laws in tax administration will begin on October 1st and extends over a total of 21 months. The students go through lectures in small groups and practical studies in the tax office, whereby they have the opportunity to choose the tax office of their choice.
