Summer magic in Erbach Castle: With Luidschi through the Count's collections!
An exciting summer holiday program awaits visitors young and old in the picturesque Erbach Castle in the Odenwald. This historic location is launching a wide range of events on July 8th and August 13th that will stimulate the imagination and teach interesting things about local culture and history. The castle ghost “Luidschi” will guide the young guests through the magnificent salons and tell them exciting stories from the past. A real highlight for the little ones!
The Odenwald Journal reports that creative workshops take place in the museum workshop in which children can create their own works of art using natural materials. This not only offers a welcome change from everyday holiday life, but also promotes the creativity of the young participants. The children also have the opportunity to dress up as princes and princesses during guided tours - this gives you a real castle feeling!
Insights into history
Adult visitors are also not left out. Intensive and exciting tours are offered for them, which offer a deep insight into the way of life of Count Franz I and the courtly table culture of the time. Count Franz I of Erbach-Erbach played a crucial role in the development of ivory art in the region and brought this art form to Erbach in the 18th century.
The German Ivory Museum, right next to the castle, impressively shows the development of this art form from its historical origins to the modern era. Visitors can admire the impressive work of the ivory carving masters at the ivory workshop display bench every day at 1:30 p.m. and gain a fascinating insight into the craft.
Tradition and art in the Ivory Museum
During his six-year educational trip through Europe, Count Franz I discovered a passion for ivory art and laid the foundations for the traditional ivory carving in Erbach. He founded the ivory turning guild in 1783 and ensured the establishment of the craft in the region with his pioneering role as an artist as well as through the procurement of materials and the lifting of customs barriers. Castles in Hesse emphasizes that visitors to the museum experience a chronological tour from the beginnings of ivory art to the present, with the focus on the aesthetics and individual experience of the exhibits.
The anticipation for the summer holidays is great! If you would like more information about the colorful program or how to register, please call 06062-809360 or email Schloss-erbach@schloesser-hessen.com report. All further details can also be found on the website Erbach Castle!
