Secure your bike! Coding on August 13th in Groß-Umstadt

On August 13, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Dieburg police station organizes a bicycle coding as part of the farmers' market. The event takes place in the old town car park near the town hall. Here cyclists can protect their bikes through a special engraving of a personal identification number in the framework.

The bicycle coding, an initiative of the South Hesse police headquarters, offers effective theft protection. Thanks to this measure, a stolen bike quickly makes itself worthless for thieves because the coding process contributes to identifying the rightful owner. However, bicycle owners have to meet some prerequisites to have their bikes coded.

Requirements and registration

In order to be able to participate in the bicycle coding, pre -registration is required. Interested parties can register by email to svo-durg-pst.ppsh@polizei.hessen.de and must provide the following information:

• name
• full address
• Telephone number
• brand and type of bike
• bicycle frame number

In addition, the participants have to bring some documents: proof of identification, proof of ownership and the battery key from e-bikes or pedelecs. An important note is that children's bicycles and bicycles with carbon frames are not suitable for coding.
