Tiroler Wiegon is revolutionizing waste management in Germany!
What's going on in waste management in Hesse? A lot is happening here! The Tyrolean company Wiegon is on the road to international success and has made a name for itself in the digital world of waste management. As top.tirol reports, the waste management district Bergstrasse (ZAKB) association is planning the first digital recycling center for 2025, equipped with innovative technologies from Wiegon. The aim is to optimize the disposal processes for around 276,000 citizens in the region.
In an exciting cooperation with the German software provider Sensis, sensis+wiegon GmbH was founded, which acts as a joint sales company in the German market. ZAKB will equip a total of 19 recycling centers with Wiegon's systems to create a new level of service. This means flexible opening times and central control, which is a real benefit for many.
New vision for waste management
Wiegon's vision is clear: everyone should be able to dispose of waste anytime, anywhere. This approach could significantly increase recycling rates and improve the service offering to citizens. Around 50 Tyrolean communities are already using the Landeck-based company's digital solutions, and interest in these modern recycling centers is growing throughout Europe. Wiegon represents an important step towards circular economy 4.0. Digitalization has the waste management fully under control - this is also shown by various studies that confirm the increasing importance of digital transformation.
With the new “Wiegon collect” billing system, waste separation becomes even easier and more effective. Citizens can use an app or license plate recognition to make the process run as smoothly as possible. The automated system, known from Europe's most modern recycling center in Ischgl, enables opening times to be increased tenfold without the need for additional staff.
Technological collaboration and awards
The collaboration between Wiegon and Sensis is part of a competence cluster that focuses on digitalization and environmental technology. Around 90 employees are working on digital solutions that not only benefit waste management, but also the climate. The Tyrolean Innovation Prize and the nomination for the State Innovation Prize are further examples that Wiegon is on the right track. Sonderabfall Wissen highlights that these innovative digital solutions can offer companies many advantages - from increasing efficiency to simplifying processes.
There are further collaborations in the starting blocks in Germany, and discussions with other waste disposal companies such as AVEA, Reloga and LAVU are already underway. A concept for the digitalization of waste processes in the Vilnius region of Lithuania is also being developed. In waste management it is clear: digital transformation is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity for effective and sustainable solutions.
Times are changing, and with them the demands on modern waste management. Here in Hesse, new technology and flexible systems are doing good business, and the dream of a clean and well-organized future is getting closer and closer.
