New variant under observation
The new Corona variant, named Nimbus (NB.1.8.1), was discovered in January 2025 and is classified by the WHO as a “variant under observation”. So far there is no evidence of more severe disease progression, which somewhat alleviates the general concern.
Intensive care beds and vaccination situation
