Construction work on L3098 in Reichenbach starts: diversions and costs!
It will soon be loud in Reichenbach: Construction work to renew the roadway on the L 3098 state road will begin on Monday, July 21st. The redesigns affect Beedenkirchener Straße and extend to the north-western exit of the town. The measure is scheduled to be carried out by November 2025 and includes a total of five construction phases. In particular, construction will begin in the first phase between Seifenwiesenweg and “Am Kieshügel” before work continues in the final section.
These comprehensive measures are necessary because around 720 meters of the roadway is being renewed. The old asphalt roadway is completely milled away and replaced with a new base layer and an asphalt surface layer. The gutter systems will also be replaced along their entire length on both sides. The total costs of the project amount to around 590,000 euros and are financed by the state of Hesse, as Hessen.de reports.
Complete closure and diversions in Reichenbach
The construction work does not come without consequences for traffic: from January 13th to July 4th, 2025, the L 3098 was already completely closed due to renovation work on the drinking water supply in the Beedenkirchener Straße / Seifenwiesenweg intersection area. The aim was to lay a new drinking water pipe, which was carried out by Nikolaus Kilian GmbH from Fürth. Here too, diversions and changes in local transport had to be accepted. The MO2 line turned around at Felsenmeer and line 664 was rerouted, Kreis Bergstrasse reported.
Diversions were set up especially for inner-city traffic, which weighs up to 3.5 tons. During construction, passengers often had to plan additional routes to get to their destinations. Residents were asked to keep no-parking areas clear and to ensure that vegetation in public spaces does not become an obstruction.
Safety and traffic development in focus
The construction work in Reichenbach is part of a comprehensive approach to improving traffic safety and traffic flow. Similar objectives were pursued in other regions, such as the renovation of Burgfelderstrasse and Missionstrasse in Switzerland. Here, wider bicycle lanes and safer pedestrian crossings are intended to increase road safety by minimizing mutual obstruction between road users, as BS.ch explains.
It will be an exciting time for traffic in Reichenbach, as the mix of road work and water pipe renovation will shape the coming months. The ultimate result should be smoother traffic and safer streets for all citizens.
