Volcano Summer 2025: 21 events receive 12,500 euros in funding!
The anticipation in the region is great: this year's Volcano Summer Cultural Festival will take place in the beautiful Vogelsberg district from July 18th to September 28th, 2025. The Vogelsberg Cultural Promotion Association has announced that it will support 21 events as part of the festival with a total of 12,500 euros. A perfect occasion to properly celebrate the creative diversity of the region, as oberhessen-live.de reports.
District Administrator Dr. Jens Mischak personally announced the funding. He is pleased that various projects have been selected by a dedicated jury team consisting of himself, Joachim Legatis, Dr. Olaf Dahlmann and Christine Eisler were selected.
Highlights and basic support
The projects supported include eleven events, each of which is funded with 1,000 euros as “highlights”. These include, among other things, an open-air film evening in Alsfeld and a live reading by Bettina Obrecht in Wettsaasen. The top events at a glance:

- Art Community Day in Schotten am 6. September
- Projekt „KünstlerWEGE – eine Spurensuche zu Fuß“ in Homberg am 17. und 31. August sowie am 14. September
- Konzert von „Alles im Takt“ und „Voice Control“ in Schlitz am 14. September
- Ausstellung „Tanz der Formen, Fluss der Träume“ von Britta Jakobi in Alsfeld vom 6. bis 21. September
- 7. Alsfelder Kulturtage vom 4. bis 21. September
- Nieder-Mooser Konzertsommer in Freiensteinau ab 6. Juli
- Lesung „Hüsch auf dem Vulkan“ am 8. August in Maar
- Kunstausstellung ARTENVIELFALT in Alsfeld vom 26. Juli bis 17. August
- Interkulturelles Familienfest am 13. September in Rimbach
Ten further initiatives receive “basic funding” of 250 euros each. These include exhibitions, concerts and exciting projects that contribute to cultural enrichment.
A festival for everyone
The Volcano Summer Cultural Festival is a real showcase of cultural creativity in Vogelsberg. The varied program ranges from exhibitions and lectures to theater performances and musical events. There is something for every taste - even for the little explorers among us, because children's and youth projects are particularly welcome, as vulkansommer.de shows.
Cultural associations, artists and municipalities can still apply for funding for their own events. Applications must be submitted by April 17th.
