Serious Sunday in Hesse: Two dead and two injured in accidents

The weekend brought tragic news for drivers in Hesse. On Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, three serious traffic accidents occurred in eastern and central Hesse, which cost the lives of two people and injured two others. The accidents occurred in the Friedberg, Herbstein and Friedewald regions.

The police and rescue workers were on constant duty to deal with the accidents that had occurred and to clarify the background. An expert was called in to analyze the exact course of the accident and the A5 motorway had to be partially closed. These measures show how important it is to act quickly and effectively in such moments.

Serious accident on the A5

The first incident happened shortly after 2 a.m. on the A5 between the Friedberg junction and the Bad Homburg motorway junction. Here, a 49-year-old driver from Frankfurt skidded in his BMW and crashed into the protective barrier and a concrete barrier. Tragic: Immediately afterwards, a 31-year-old driver, also from Frankfurt, drove over a torn BMW tire with his Suzuki and lost control of his vehicle, which hit the 49-year-old. He later succumbed to his serious injuries in hospital, while the other driver escaped with horror. Total damage was estimated at around €88,000 and the highway was partially closed until 7:30 a.m. before it had to be closed for drone footage for an additional 15 minutes.

Clash at Herbstein

In the afternoon there was another serious accident at around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of L 3139 and B 275. An 81-year-old woman from Scotland wanted to turn left in her Suzuki, but overlooked the BMW of a 22-year-old man from Lauterbach who had the right of way. The woman was seriously injured and had to be flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter, while the BMW driver was fortunately only slightly injured. Both vehicles were unable to drive after the collision and the intersection remained closed to traffic until 7 p.m. The estimated damage is around EUR 17,500.

Fatal accident near Friedewald

The last of the three accidents occurred around 8:50 p.m. on the B62 near Friedewald. A driver who wanted to overtake skidded due to oncoming traffic and lost control of his vehicle, which then overturned. The tragedy began when the driver was thrown from the car and died at the scene of the accident. Such scenarios show once again how fast and unpredictable road traffic can be.

In light of these tragic incidents, it is more important than ever to drive safely on the roads and be aware of the significant dangers on the road. Users of traffic applications and cameras such as those found on wvcams.com are advised to remain vigilant and exercise extreme caution when using roads.

Once again it becomes clear that road traffic is often unpredictable and we should all have a good hand in getting to our destination safely. Stay alert and drive carefully!
