Magical sounds for young and old: Peter and the Wolf in Alsfeld!

Things will soon be magical in Alsfeld: on June 29th at 2 p.m. there will be a very special children's organ concert in the Christ the King Church. Okay, not just for the little ones - adults are also warmly invited to let themselves be carried away by the sounds of the musical fairy tale “Peter and the Wolf”. The regional cantor Eva-Maria Anton from Bad Nauheim will transform the organ into a whole orchestra, while the narrator Kerstin Huwer from Alsfeld will bring the story to life - it promises to be a wonderful afternoon! According to Oberhessen Live, entry is free, but donations are requested.

The work of Sergei Prokofiev, who was born in Ukraine in 1891 and died in what is now Russia in 1953, offers more than just musical entertainment. Prokofiev, who studied in St. Petersburg at the age of 13, is considered one of the most important modern composers. His music is known for its idiosyncratic rhythms and often grotesque themes - no wonder “Peter and the Wolf” is so popular. This orchestral piece tells the adventurous story of a boy who understands the language of animals and, together with his animal friends, stands up to a wolf. A great concept to familiarize children with the instruments of a symphony orchestra - each instrument represents an animal: the duck is represented by an oboe, the cat by a clarinet.

A concert for the whole family

With its musical themes for characters such as birds, ducks or wolves, the concert offers numerous explanations and musical examples that are specially prepared for the youngest listeners. The piece, which was commissioned for the Moscow Children's Theater in 1936, is not only popular with children, but also impresses those young at heart. Prokofiev’s talent for bringing stories to life has captivated audiences for decades.

The team around Eva-Maria Anton and Kerstin Huwer has a good hand when it comes to awakening a fascination for classical music in children. And with the free concert they ensure that a wide audience has the opportunity to surround themselves with culture. Who would have thought that culture could be so easily accessible!

After all, a little anticipation is a good thing. The date is set, and anyone who has the opportunity should mark this special afternoon in their calendars. A nice opportunity to experience something together and be enchanted by the magic of music.
