New nursing specialists celebrate graduation – region benefits from talent!

On October 7, 2025, a significant event was celebrated at the Vogelsberg Academy for Health Professions (VAG): the ceremonial farewell to graduates of the various nursing courses. On this occasion, eight graduates received their certificates as certified nursing specialists after three years of training. The names of these dedicated specialists are Mike Großhable, Ewelina-Joanna Heimann, Isabell Denise Liesner, Antonia Schmidt, Kathrin Schmidt, Larissa Sorg, Sabrina Sitte and Malik Turak.

But that wasn't everything. In the afternoon, an additional 21 geriatric care and nursing assistants were given farewell after a one-year training course. These graduates have also been able to gain valuable experience in regional facilities such as the Alsfeld Health and Care Center, the Best Care Residence at Schlossberg and the Alsfeld District Hospital.

Training and quality

The graduates of the three-year nursing training have completed over 2,500 hours of practical training in various nursing facilities, supplemented by around 2,100 hours of theoretical lessons at the academy. This comprehensive training is not only highly regarded in the region, but also meets the requirements for the profession of nursing specialist - a job that is becoming increasingly in demand. [Federal Ministry of Health] points out that the entry requirements require a secondary school leaving certificate or equivalent, as well as other criteria that ensure that the prospective nursing staff have the necessary suitability.

At the celebration, district councilor Hans-Jürgen Schäfer emphasized the central role of the nursing professions in today's society. Managing director Volker Röhrig from the hospital mentioned that almost all graduates will stay in the region and thus make a valuable contribution to local healthcare. School principal Karen Heipel was also full of praise for the commitment and dedication of the graduates.

An important profession

The nursing professions are very popular and not only offer good job opportunities, but are also a great opportunity for personal development. [Federal Ministry of Health] emphasizes that full-time nursing training takes three years and part-time nursing training can take up to five years. The specialty is also diverse and includes both nursing and geriatric care, each with a clear training goal.

With the farewell to the graduates, a look back at their training period was taken, during which teachers and students shared both exciting challenges and unforgettable experiences. This shows once again that the thorough and practical training at VAG is bearing fruit and is optimally preparing graduates for their future role in nursing.

The event at the academy was a nice conclusion to a difficult training path and an important step for the graduates in their future professional careers. A big thank you to everyone involved in supporting this important area of healthcare!
