235 young talents inspire at the Athletics Cup in Niederaula!

The fourth edition of the athletics cup took place on June 16, 2025 in the Hattenberg Stadium in Niederaula. With 235 participating children and adolescents, this competition exceeded expectations and set up a new participant record. The sports club Niederaula (SVN) was proud to welcome so many young athletes from Vogelsberg and the surrounding area. Competitive manager Matthias Schenk from the SVN emphasized the important role of the association, which has existed since 2018 and has now trained proud 80 children from U8 to U12 and older in athletics.

The event included an exciting program with disciplines such as cross-country skiing, long jump, barrier throwing, lawn run and one-hopper run. This diversity appeals exactly the spirit of children's athletics, which the German Athletics Association (DLV) supports since 2011. This is about inspiring more children for athletics and enabling them a wide range of competitions, as an overview on the pages of the Hessian Athletics Association (HLV) shows. The children were enthusiastic and delivered impressive performances.

A look back: the development of the SVN

The SVN athletics department was founded in 2018 with only 11 children. Since then, the number of active members has increased significantly. The association not only has an increase in the training children, but also a waiting list for interested stragglers. This positive development shows that the association's efforts to bring young people closer to the fun of athletics. The SVN is active in the Vogelsberg district association of the Hessian Athletics Association and takes part in numerous regional competitions.

The 2025 events also include a “Sparkassen Kila-Cup” and the “Jula Cup” for the U14. The Aulatal Athletics Cup, which took place one day before the current competition, was another highlight for the young talent. The results of the past years have already shown that the SVN girls and guys always achieve good placements in various competitions. For example, Paula Weppler reached the 1st place in the U10 at the Sparkassen Kila-Cup 2024.
