District budget in Hersfeld-Rotenburg: Save to the last cent!

In Hesse, the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district again makes headlines, because the district budget is faced with a comprehensive adjustment. The approval authority has found that the previous measures for budget consolidation are not sufficient to receive approval. According to a report by HNA will advise on this. Savings of 19.1 million euros in the earnings budget and 18.6 million euros in the financial budget are planned.

The district council, which will vote on the proposals on June 30, faces the challenge of pressing the deficit from over 40 million euros to less than 30 million euros. The deficit is currently 27.2 million euros in the earnings budget and 29.9 million euros in the financial budget. This is a serious wake -up call for the municipalities that would be affected with a stable circle of 0 percent.

a strict austerity course

hna were reduced by 5 million euros, while flat -rate cuts of around 6 million euros are also on the agenda. The district administration will not increase any areas in 2025 and thus save around 2 million euros. The measures also include shifts of infrastructure projects, such as the renovations of schools and streets, without increasing the circular levy.

In the current financial situation, the district has the highest residents -related deficit in all of Hesse. The responsible tax authorities also requested further savings of around 100,000 euros in order to obtain approval for the budget plans. During all of these developments, District Administrator Warnecke is optimistic about the possibilities of improving the results of the clinic. The goal is clear: all requirements must be met on the way to the budget permit.

Bundes budget in focus

ZDF . With a planned budget volume of 503 billion euros, which corresponds to an increase of 6.1 percent, the federal government provides for a net loan of 81.8 billion.

New debt will increase in the coming years and will increase to over 126 billion euros by 2029. The expenses for defense are particularly pronounced, which should increase to 3.5 percent of GDP by 2029. However, development expenditure continues to fall below 0.67 percent of economic output.

The interdependencies between the budget situations in the municipalities and the federal government are obvious. The planned savings and the need to reduce debts make it clear that it is economically "there is something" - both at local and national level. If the district council of Hersfeld-Rotenburg and the federal government do not tear around their financial rudder in good time, it could soon look bleak.
